The Market Forecasts Expect Netflix to Report Massive Quarterly Earnings Tomorrow

Netflix is scheduled to report its earnings performance for Q1 2020 tomorrow after the market close, and investors are anticipating the streaming-services provider to deliver quite solid data for the three months ending in March.

This general excitement is prompted by the fact that since most people have been forced to stay at home and isolate themselves due to the coronavirus pandemic, companies like Netflix would most likely have benefited from a surge in their customers' bases.

The consensus forecasts project Netflix' Earnings Per Share to reach $1.62, which would be more than double compared to the $0.76 EPS that were reported for the same quarter last year.

If the findings of tomorrow's report meet these initial forecasts, this will turn out to be the most solid quarterly performance the company has ever had. The EPS would surpass the recorded performance for the previous quarter by more than 30 cents in addition to breaking the current record of $1.47.

As we argued in our last premium analysis of Netflix and its share price:

"As social distancing is becoming the norm in the US and elsewhere, the number of people spending most of their time at home can be anticipated to rise exponentially in the next couple of weeks. That is why streaming from home can be projected to undergo a marked rise within the next few weeks as well […]."

That is why the most important metric in tomorrow's earnings report is going to be the observed growth in Netflix' paid subscribers over the last quarter. The consensus forecasts project increases in the number of US subscribers as well as international paid memberships.

Both of these metrics would support the current market rally, which amounted to more than 25 per cent gains for Netflix' share price since our last analysis.

The stock is currently trading at around 423.00, which is above the historic resistance level at 417.00 and close to the all-time high of 449.00 that was reached last Thursday.
