The Dow Jones Fell Almost 200 Basis Points Today After Trump Cautions That the US Trade Tariffs "Could Stay On for a Long Time"

As we have told you in a previous article, the US and China have been negotiating with each other for several weeks now and the global expectations have been for a quick resolution of the global economic slump, mostly intrigued by the trade war and the standoff between the two biggest economies in the world.

Then today, in a now-typical manner of shocking statements, President Donald Trump hinted at a potential prolonging of the whole situation, and as a result, the Dow Jones Industrial fell with -0.70% (6.30pm UTC) on the threats that global trades woes might be allowed to continue.

The composite index is likely to extend its losing streak throughout the rest of the American trading session, potentially breaking the support level.
