The Situation in the Australian Labour Market Remains Almost Unchanged

On Thursday morning the Australian Beaurau of Statistics released its monthly report on the employment numbers and the general rate of unemployment in the country.

According to the seasonally adjusted statistics, the Australian economy added 42300 new jobs, and thus the overall number of employed persons rose to almost 8.800 million.

While the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate remained steady at 5.2%, the number of unemployment persons rose with 5,800 for the previous month, which added fuel to the recent concerning trend of rising unemployment numbers that was covered in the weekly expectations article.

Following the release of the unemployment report, the AUDUSD pair extended its losses in addition to the previous day’s 0.48% drop, which was due mainly to the US's CPI data release, and registered another daily decline of 0.19% because of investors rising concerns for future rise in the Australian unemployment.
